It’s that time of season again! Fried Turkey’s, Roasted Turkeys, Smoked Turkeys- How do you prepare your Thanksgiving Turkey? A preparation you may have not tried before, but leaves the turkey succulent and moist (succulent and moist? yes, I just said that) is soy-brining with this savory Turkey Brine.
Savory Turkey Brine
(Recipe for a 16-24 pound turkey)
The night before roasting, remove giblets and turkey neck; rinse turkey inside and out. In a large stockpot, or 5 gallon bucket, mix water with remaining ingredients. Stir well until all the salt is dissolved. Place turkey in pot, cover with lid or aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight or at least 8 hours.

Remove turkey from brine, rinse well. Follow your regular cooking instructions.
——————————————————————————————————————————
The public relations firm for Kikkoman or the company itself provided me with the soy sauce, a few other food products and a gift card to purchase this turkey to showcase a new way of preparing your turkey. All photos and thoughts are my own.

I came across Better Bit of Butter cookies about a year ago, when I worked with Christine (the owner) on promotions at my parenting blog, Busy Mom. I was amazed at her creativity and attention to detail with everything from the packaging to her business cards. I am even more fond of Christine because she is a fellow work-at-home mom and studied Art in college (I will graduate this December with a degree in Art!)
We first had a giveaway on Busy Mom, which went over great (of course, who wouldn’t want these beautifully decorated cookies?). I then contacted Christine to make some baby-themed cookies for the arrival of my aunt (in-law)’s son.
I thought of Christine again when I was thinking of fun features for The Dish on Delish and was happy to hear that she would do a fondant tutorial- which will be coming soon! Yet again, I needed another batch of cookies when Lisa from Crazy Adventures in Parenting helped me name this site…. thanks Lisa!
With the holidays coming up, I just had to rave about Christine and tell everyone about these works of art
Not only are they beautiful, they are delish. Perfect for hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, and the minis would be beautiful as wedding favors at winter weddings!

Yum.

There are a million and one recipes you can make with pre-made salsas. Pace has a nice variety of recipes and some delicious new salsas like Black Bean and Roasted Corn and Pineapple Mango Chipotle. I used their traditional chunky salsa to make the best chili I have ever made.
Pace sent me a few salsas to try out some of the recipes and my family has loved all of them so far. Here is a yummy Queso Pizza recipe – if you haven’t made homemade pizza, you are missing out!
Pace® Mucho Queso Pizza
Prep: 15 minutes
Bake: 15 minutes
Makes: 4 servings
Ingredients
- 1 cup Pace® Mexican Four Cheese Salsa con Queso
- 1 prepared pizza crust (10-inch) ** I made my own**
- 1 / 2 cup shredded cooked chicken or turkey ** great for an after-Thanksgiving meal!**
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
- You can add any veggies you want. I added cherry tomatoes and red onions.
1. Heat the oven to 400°F.
2. Spread the salsa con queso onto the pizza crust to within 1/2-inch of the edge. Top with the chicken, tomatoes, cheese and basil.
3. Bake for 15 minutes or until the salsa con queso is hot and bubbling.

I don’t really like banana flavoring in anything else besides banana bread. Banana pudding? Nope. Banana Split? Nope. But I could eat warm banana bread all day long, especially with peanut butter…. yum!
Make sure to use very ripe bananas in this recipe. I usually make banana bread with leftover bananas that no one eats. To hurry up the process you can put your bananas in a paper sack and that should make them ripen faster.
I am not totally happy with the streusel on the bread.. I wish it was…. softer. I will experiment and get back to you.
Banana Bread with Streusel Topping
Mix in order and pour into greased bread pan. You don’t have to, but I used the struesel recipe from The Pioneer Woman. Place the streusel on top before baking.
Bake at 350 for 45min-1 hr.
